First setup
The handful of settings worth entering before you raise your first invoice.
LalKitaab works out of the box, but four things are worth doing on day one. They take a few minutes and save re-work later.
1. Your shop details
Settings → Company profile. The name and address print on every invoice. Two fields matter more than the rest:
- GSTIN — printed on the invoice and used in your GST returns.
- State code — this decides whether a sale is taxed as CGST + SGST or as IGST. Get it wrong and every invoice is taxed wrongly.
2. Your logo
Upload a logo on the same screen and it appears in the application and on printed invoices. Without one, your shop's initials are used.
3. A backup passphrase
Open Backup and choose a passphrase. Automatic backups do not run until you do, so this is the single most important step on this page.
4. Opening stock
Enter your products with their opening quantity and the rate you paid. That rate seeds the weighted-average cost, so your profit figures are meaningful from the first sale rather than from your first purchase entry.
